Atman is one's individual soul or divinity in the Hindu religion. If and when someone finds their inner Atman, they will then become one with Brahman. Brahman is the soul of the world. In the Hindu religion, finding Atman may be easier than attaining Brahman through Moksha, being released from Samsara. This is because Atman can be achieve during one lifetime, through diligent meditation. Atman in a sense is a 'shortcut' to Brahman and skipping moving up in the Caste System, karma, and dharma. Brahman, however is achieved through many lifetimes of good Karma and good Dharma. From a Hindu's perspective, Atman would be very nice to achieve because it takes such little time, yet it still leads to the same place, Brahman.
